'Stone Cold Ohio' out now!
'Stone Cold Ohio' is out now! Real World Records, Peter Gabriel's record label, has released the fifth Little Axe album 'Stone Cold Ohio'. The record is celebrated with a special event at Ray's Jazz in London.
Stone Cold Ohio is about going back in time. 21st century blues with heavy gospel influences and subtle dubbing under the surface. "I like to surf time. What I like to do is study time-periods - get right in to 'em, so deep it gets real heavy in there. And I study hard. I like creating the grooves you thought you'd forgotten about", says Skip McDonald.
The successor to the criticly acclaimed Champagne & Grits (2004, also on Real World Records) has been very well received by the UK music press, with four to five star reviews. The album pays hommage to Skip's birthplace Dayton, Ohio. Stone Cold Ohio is a mix of the music Skip grew up with and his later influences. "We're having a blues dub gospel crash", says the man himself.
