When Little Axe's Hard Grind can be considered the rebirth of Adrian Sherwood's On-U Sound label, the very nicely priced sampler Chainstore Massacre ('a full length cd for the price of a 12" single', says Adrian) marks On-U Sound's second youth.
The album, released October 28 on cd and 2lp, features a lot of great tracks by 'old' and new On-U artists. among the well known names on the follow up of the legendary pay it all back series are 2Badcard, Little Axe (featuring Sinead O'Connor), Mark Stewart, Dub Syndicate and of course Adrian Sherwood himself. New artists are Asian Dub Foundation, 3head and Mutant Hifi, to name but a few.
The album is crammed with great tracks and you can check a few of them at the On-U Sound website that is getting a new face at the moment.
More On-U Sound news: November 11 is the streetdate for the long overdue selection of rare Dub Syndicate recordings. Murder Tone will be available both as cd and 2lp. Most of the tracks have been recorded between Stoned Immaculate and Echomania.
